“THE DAVE RAMSEY SHOW” ON NEW FLAGSHIP STATION IN NASHVILLE
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Beginning January 2, 2013, “The Dave Ramsey Show” can be heard live on a new flagship station, WPRT 102.5 FM The Game in Nashville and 97.5 FM in Murfreesboro, weekdays from 1p.m. to 4p.m. CST. Hosted by best-selling author, Dave Ramsey, the live radio talk show focuses on life and how it happens to revolve around money. The show previously aired on Cumulus-owned WWTN-FM.
“After 20 years on WWTN it is very difficult to leave. Unfortunately, we couldn’t come to terms with Cumulus on a simple renewal agreement. There are a lot of great people at WWTN and we’ll miss them,” said Ramsey. “But we’re excited to have the opportunity to work with an independent radio station owner the caliber of Bud Walters.”
“The Dave Ramsey Show” is the largest independently owned, operated and syndicated talk radio show in the country. The show has more than 6 million listeners weekly. It can be heard on more than 500 radio stations nationwide, many of which are owned by Clear Channel, CBS, Entercom, Bonneville and Cumulus. “The Dave Ramsey Show” can also be heard on XM Satellite radio and on The Dave Ramsey Channel on iHeartRadio.
102.5 The Game is owned by Nashville-based Cromwell Radio Group. Bayard “Bud” Walters is president of Cromwell Radio Group, which owns 23 radio stations in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee. Walters has served or currently serves on many boards related to the radio business, including the Radio Advertising Bureau and the National Association of Broadcasters. Along with “The Dave Ramsey Show” 102.5 The Game is the flagship station of The Nashville Predators and The Nashville Sounds, and is the local affiliate of ESPN Radio. In the Nashville market, Cromwell also operates 102.9 The BUZZ and 102.1 The LIGHT.
Bayard Walters, Cromwell president, said. "Dave is broadcast on two of our other stations where he makes a difference every day. We've talked with him about joining us on The GAME in the past, and we're pleased it is happening as we start 2013. It is also the year he enters The Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Congratulations to Dave."
According to Ramsey there is symmetry to the move to 102.5 The Game, “I started my broadcasting career preceding George Plaster’s sports talk show. George is a world class broadcaster and I’m honored to preceed his show once again.”
Tincy Crouse and Jeff Kolb, GAME general manager and station manager respectively said "We're thrilled that Dave is joining us. It reunites an afternoon of programming that started 20 years ago when Dave was on the same station with George and Willy. It's a wonderful line-up of listening for the Nashville area."
