The oddsmakers don’t exactly give any Sun Belt Conference team much of achance Saturday against those schools from the power conferences, except for Western Kentucky only being a seven-point underdog at Kentucky and Troy getting 17 at home against Mississippi State.
From there, Sun Belt teams are prohibitive underdogs, including Nebraska favored by 24 over Arkansas State, Oklahoma State by 22 over Louisiana-Lafayette, Auburn by 17 over Louisiana-Monroe, North Carolina State by 32 over South Alabama, Kansas State by 28 over North Texas, and Georgia by 43 over Florida Atlantic.
Then again, Louisiana-Monroe proved the league can occasionally step up and beat a big boy. Then again, its win at then-No. 8 Arkansas would never have happened had Razorbacks standout quarterback Tyler Wilson not got hurt in the first half and miss the second half and subsequent overtime.
