How Much Is Your College Football Team Worth?

by ZachBingham

Alabama dominated on the field in last night’s BCS National Championship but there are eight other teams above the Crimson Tide when it comes to dollars bills, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Ryan Brewer, an assistant professor of finance at Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus, evaluated a total number of 115 top college teams and looked at each program's revenues and expenses and made cash-flow adjustments, risk assessments and growth projections for each school. Then put a value on them as if they were available to be sold just like NFL franchises.

Forbes values the Dallas Cowboys at $2.1 billion dollars, which is number one among NFL teams. Last year, mega billionaire Shahid Khan purchased the Jacksonville Jaguars for about $760 million.

Just like in the professional ranks, Texas reigns supreme.

Brewer's study has the Texas Longhorns taking the top spot with a value of $761.7 million dollars.

Nine SEC teams are in the top twenty with Florida being the highest at $599.7 million.

Take a look at where your school ranks...
