My New Favorite Player

by JoeDubin

His name won't show up on any stat sheet.  He will not be getting the game ball anytime soon.  No one at a Titans game will be wearing his jersey but I am pretty sure Titans C/G Kyle DeVan doesn't care.

One of the few highlights from Monday's game between the Jets and the Titans was Chris Johnson's 94 yard run.  The 2nd longest ever on Monday Night Football and the longest in franchise history.  The guy who threw the key block to get it started, Kyle DeVan.

Now he is not my new favorite cause he made a great block.  It is what he has done in his career up to that point.  You see, DeVan in the last month or so, has been cut by the Titans 4 times.  Let that sink in.  He has been cut by the Titans 4 times but with the Titans offensive line looking like a M*A*S*H* unit, they re-signed him again.

DeVan played college at Oregon State and was an undrafted player when he was signed by the Washington Redskins in 2008.  He has also played for the Colts, Jets, Eagles and the, get this, the Boise Burn of the AF2.  The Boise Burn!

He was cut by all those teams and while he waited for another shot, he was a substitute teacher.  He reminds me of the guy in the story who had his family on a long trek across the desert and they came across a house.  The light was on and the guy kept knocking and knocking and knocking.  Finally, the homeowner came down and opened the door.  He said, 'The only reason I am opening this door, is because you, won't stop knocking.'

Keep on knocking Kyle DeVan.  Keep on knocking.
